Stay in the Swim!
Armfield Civic Center Pool Fundraiser
Dear Community Members,
We need you! The William G. Reid Competition Pool at the Armfield Civic Center (ACC) is in danger of closing in the spring of 2021. In short, the current dehumidification system that provides a safe environment for swimmers, spectators, and families has exceeded its lifetime. A new system is required to continue safe operation of the facility.
The ACC pool is an extremely vital component of Surry County. As one of only two indoor competition pools in the area, the pool endures heavy usage year-round. Even if you personally do not use the pool, it is highly likely that someone you know does. In addition to swim lessons, lap swimming, water aerobics & water walking, the pool is also home to PAC Swimming (year-round USA Swim team), Armfield Summer League Swim Team, and 6 local school programs – East Surry, Surry Central, and all four of the Surry County middle schools.
ACC has worked tirelessly to gather quotes and bids for replacing the overworked dehumidification system. Replacing the system will cost approximately $264,000.00. We are hoping to receive funding support from our schools and local government agencies, but also need your support. The loss of this pool would be devastating to the Pilot Mountain Community and greater Surry County. We hope that we can count on your support.
Donations are being accepted in the following ways:
1. Mail or drop off a donation to the Armfield Civic Center at 873 West 52 By-pass, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041 Attn: Pool Fund
2. Drop a donation off at the Pilot Mountain Branch of Surrey Bank & Trust (designated ACC Pool Fund)
3. Make a credit/debit card donation via our website, www.armfieldcenter.com.
4. Make a credit/debit card donation through PayPal.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

The ACC park is home to an 18-hole disc golf course that begins in the Nelson Acres parking lot and runs through Nelson Acres before ending near the first hole. This course is very challenging and runs through heavily wooded areas in several locations.
Nelson Acres was constructed through a $500,000 grant with land donated to the town of Pilot Mountain, NC. The primary focus was to create a beautiful trail through these woods without affecting the environment in the process. Many people visit Nelson Acres daily and enjoy the spectacular scenery. The entire trail is 3.1 miles long and a cut-through path is available for those who would like a shorter walk. Information on the trail is available at the parking lot of Nelson Acres. There are also five camping sites available for rent within Nelson Acres.
